Hong Kong Writers Circle socials are the perfect opportunity for members and non-members, long time writers and newcomers, to meet, chat and take an evening off from whatever they are working on.
Held roughly once a month, our socials often include short readings from members or special guests, as well as quick-fire writing contests and opportunities to pick up the latest HKWC anthology. We also have special socials throughout the year - anthology launches and our Christmas party are not to be missed! Check out some of our previous events here.
Our network includes local and international publishers, illustrators, layout artists, newspaper columnists and arts executives - as well as writers of all kinds and from all places. See our Friends page for a sample. Being a member of the Hong Kong Writers Circle means being part of this network and forging links that will help with your writing career.
Follow us on Meetup or Facebook for dates, times and locations - socials are always free to attend and open to all. We hope to see you at one soon!

Information for HKWC Members
Keep an eye on Facebook and this website for upcoming events. Having a Meetup account is a great way of letting people know that you will attend a social, and will give you a preview of who will be there too. Twitter and Facebook are also great ways of raising the profile of events both before and afterwards, which benefits both the HKWC and our members.
Our committee members will often have little HKWC name badges on at socials, and you can check out our profiles on the members page so you know who we are. If you're attending for the first time, check our Maps page for directions to our most popular venues.
Make sure to check that our newsletter is coming straight into your mailbox by adjusting your spam settings. If you need help with this, send us an email or talk to one of us at a social. You can send us any news you have and we will put that into our newsletter. If you have a book launch or other event, let us know in good time and we can help you to promote it.
When networking, make sure you are able to explain your current projects clearly and succinctly - no one wants to have their ear chewed off! Prepare some business cards with your name and email, and consider setting up a website where people can see your work and any press you have received. Most of all, enjoy yourself!
