This year our publishing project is HOTEL CHINA, a collection of stories based around the guests and staff of a fictional international hotel in China.
We develop these stories through a series of workshops held at regular intervals throughout the year. You do not need to attend the workshops to contribute stories for the collection, but it is recommended that you at least attend one in order to find out the criteria and to see what other writers are doing for the book.
The Writers' Circle collections are always themed and there is always a lively debate about the nature of the stories and how they should be judged. Most writers have found the feedback on work in progress and contributing to the feedback on other writers' work, invaluable and informative. Further, part of the learning process concerns the nature of book design, publishing and marketing and so the more you participate the more you will get out of this.
